The IP voltmeter is equipped with an HTTP server on port 80, which is a standard port that cannot be modified on these boards. To connect to the board, you must know its IP address, which is detailed in this document. Additionally, the IP voltmeter supports mDNS, a protocol that enables devices on a local network to locate and communicate with each other using domain names instead of IP addresses.

When a device with mDNS support joins a network, it broadcasts a message containing its hostname and IP address. This allows other devices on the same network to receive and process the message, enabling them to connect to the device using its hostname. This eliminates the need to remember IP addresses or configure devices with static IP addresses.

The hostname for all boards is "mchpboard", which can be entered into the web browser ( http://mchpboard/ ) to connect to the board. The hostname can be changed through the "Network settings" menu.

Web browser

The IP voltmeter employs AJAX technology, meaning that the web page is transmitted over the network only once, and then only the data is transferred. The status.xml subfile, which is minimal, is transmitted. The web browser sends a request to the IP voltmeter every 800 ms, which is a fixed value that cannot be altered by the user.
